as far as i know the dvd-ram drives only work with dvd-ram disks and not dvd±r/rw disks.

the dvd-ram disks we have come with a caddy (required for the regular non-slimline dvd-ram drives), so if you're using the new slimline models you'd have to extract the disks from the caddy, assuming they don't make caddy-less ones.

the good thing is the dvd-ram disks are rewritable, so you don't need to buy a ton of them.

Hi:

When running a smitty mkdvd on a p570 with an installed IBM
Slimeline DVD-RAM drive (FC 5157) I receive the error message

0512-399 mkcd: Unable to create UDF media

I am trying to burn to DVD-R. Does this device support this media?
