When you issue the: "format" command which formats a floppy disk in AIX,
it just clears the disk.
Now, the floppy disk is usually used for small UNIX cpio or tar-balls.
Then you just do a
tar -tvf /dev/fdX to see the tar table of contents from the floppy
diskette, or the cpio equivalent.
To see actual filesystem directory structures off of the floppy, you
must create a mini JFS filesystem on the
floppy... I don't have the procedures on me, but I'm sure someone else
on the list has it, or you could Google(Groups)
search it... It's been documented many times, so it shouldn't be the
difficult to track down.
