What version of AIX? If you are running 5.2 you need to check the small
real mode checkbox on the memory configuration screen.
This was the problem. It must have become unticked when I increased the amount of memory, and I didn't know that it needed to be ticked.
Also, on
a P5 processor you can choose the boot mode from the HMC when you boot
forcing SMS.
So you are saying, I can get rid of the lpar for booting into SMS?
