Re: Mounting a Windows Share

The mount option of a CIFS filesystem is free. You are thinking of
FastConnect or IBM's version of Samba...

Darryl,

I am not familiar with the AIX's implementation of the
CIF protocol (Windows NetworkFilesystem) which is not
free, but it is not possible to do that with samba,
however, it is possible to do it the other way around.

Also, Windows has a NFS server in what I believe is
called something similar to Windows Services for UNIX
package.

esv.

This is a bit of an odd request, but our developers
asked if there was a
way to map a Windows share to an AIX filesystem.
I've never personally
heard of it being done, but I said I'd check on it.

I do the vice-versa all the time (Samba), but for
some reason they feel
the need to go the other way.

Darryl
