A lot depends on if you what storage device you are using...

If it is an ESS product with SDD; you will have to disable VPATHing of
the device. Never tried it with RDAC on the FastT type storage.

We do not use it in our shop. Internal disk or VIO is a little easier
to manage for us.

Hello all,

I received some documentation from one of the IBM Global Services
Specialist on how to install AIX on a SAN storage disk. According to
the
documentation I have, you can install a couple different ways. I found
some more documentation on the Dell/EMC site and this seems to be a
little
older than the one I received from IBM. Again, a few different ways
that I
can go about the install. I was hoping to find someone that has had a
successful install of the OS and maybe point me to some more
documentation
on this subject. I have a call logged with support, as I had some
general
questions, but I was told they would have to call me back.
Any advice, or problems you can share would be greatly appreciated.


Configuration:
Dell CX600 CLARIION..
IBM p570 AIX 5.3 TL04
EMC PowerPath 4.5.2 Navisphere 6.19
