Re: Emulex fiber card on an F40

Hi Mark,

About 2 or 3 years ago we tried to use Emulex fiber cards is some newer
servers than the F40, and had nothing but problems. I may be wrong, but I
was thinking that type of card was not supported in the servers we were
trying to install. Some worked, some had some minor, and major problems.
I may be thinking of another device, but am pretty sure it was the emulex
fiber cards.

Thanks
John

I've got a customer who is trying to get an Emulex HBA adapter (I don't
know
the model--the IBM fru # is 80P4382) to work with an F40.

He gets an F52 error code on POST (F52=looking for/at a PCI adapter card),
and the boot sequence halts there. I don't know if the card is
incompatible,
or if it possibly just a bad card.

Has anyone else seen this?
