Re: Drive not in Device Configuration

"extendvg -f vg_name hdisk3"
This will force this disk into the target volume group.

Then you can "mirrorvg -Sc 2 vg_name"

Thank you Patrick. I tried the command below [scsi, btw] and was able
to get the drive listed in the odm after physically removing and
reinstalling it. Problem that came up then was it would not let me
mirror it as it thought it was already part of another volume group.
But if you tried to list contents the commands failed because it was
not assigned a volume group.

I tried the same process and moved the drive to another bay....same
results. There's nothing in the error log. The amber warning light is
on at the top of the server. I had assumed it was due to the failed
drive [I'm replacing with this one], but now it's looking more ominous.

It will have to wait until Friday.
Happy Thanksgiving all and thank you for all the help,

Have you tried,

rmdev -dl hdisk3;cfgmgr

?

Subject: Drive not in Device Configuration

AIX 5300-05-03
Pseries 6E1 Type 7028

I just added a drive, which I've done before uneventfully. This drive
shows in the physical volumes list, is defined, but I continue to get
an
0516-304 : Unable to find device id hdisk3 in the Device
Configuration Database.

error when trying to mirror, list contents, anything.

getlvodm -C does not list this drive. I have shutdown and reseated it
a couple times, certified it, formatted it, configure a defined disk
successfully...I haven't tried it in a different drive bay, that's my
next move.

Any suggestions? I did just go from 5300-04 to 5300-05-03 but have
not yet committed and have the saved files.
Thank you,
