TSM - classes or wing it?

Folks,
It appears that we're going to be dealing with TSM in the next year or
so. I was wondering what experiences folks on the list had as far as
what training they felt was required before they jumped into it and used
the product.
We've got a pretty simple environment, one tape library with some
machines to dump from, so it's not a huge, complicated environment, but
I've heard from a couple folks that strongly suggested getting classroom
time.
Would redbooks and other self-help materials be sufficient, or do the
folks here feel that classroom time is a must for dealing with TSM?
TIA!
