Did you try just editing the "/etc/group" file and adding "nagios" to the
"nobody" group?

Problems Adding User to Group "nobody" (err. #: 3004-698)
Hi,
On a new AIX 5.3 machine I tried to add "nagios" to the nobody group,
using 2 ways:
1.
chuser groups=nagios,nobody nagios fails with:
3004-698 Error committing changes to "nagios" : Value is invalid.
2.
chgroup users=nobody,lpd,nagios nobody fails with:
3004-698 Error committing changes to "nobody" : Value is invalid.
usrck -n nagios and grpck -n nobody both don't give any err/out .
It works without problems on an AIX5.2 system
BTW, on 5.2 (2 machines), the uid is "-2" ; grpck -n nobody gives
on 1 machine the msg: 3001-226 Bad group id "-2" in "nobody".
whereas running the same on an identical machine produces no err msg.
On the aix 5.3 machine (where I'm trying to add "nagios" to the "nobody"
group) the uid is: 4294967294.
Any clues/ideas what's wrong and how to remedy the situation ?
Thanks,
/Zvika
