Hi, Mark.
Did you reinitialize your smit screens? Take a look at the sm_file
script in this post.
http://unix.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/ibm-aix-l/moving-q
lconfig-to-new-system-1429315
<http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=871194>
If that doesn't do it, you might just have to use the smit screen and F6
to build a script to create those queues. Should be quick and easy.
Good luck!

Thanks for the clarification and usefull cmd Alex.
Here's what I see when creating a new hp_jetdriect print queue:
Add a Print Queue
Type or select values in entry fields.
Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.
[Entry Fields]
Description Generic Printer
Description Generic Printer
Names of NEW print queues to add
Names of NEW print queues to add
ASCII []
GL Emulation []
PCL Emulation []
PostScript []
Printer connection characteristics
* HOSTNAME of the JetDirect Card []
* PORT [9100]
It wasn't the cosmetic aspect of it that got my attention is was the
fact that I couldn't make any
queue modifications without generating an error like :
0782-591 The value of _d attribute is not in the list generated from
the limits field
0782-112 1 Errors detected while validating printer attributes.
Use local problem reporting procedures.
I suspect it may been due to the way I earlier had copying the existing
queues from another server and may have messed something up.
My process was :
Migrating Print Queues to from another System:
NOTE: This won't work however unless the hpjetdirect printer drivers
etc. are installed
1. copy the /etc/qconfig from servera (make a copy of the
original before)
2. Copy the following files:
- cd /var/spool/lpd/pio/@local
<mailto:/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local>
- rcp -rp riscxx:/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/custom
<mailto:riscxx:/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/custom> .
- rcp -rp riscxx:/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/dev
<mailto:riscxx:/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/dev> .
- rcp -rp riscxx:/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/ddi
<mailto:riscxx:/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/ddi> .
3. change the permissions on the copied files to 664
chmod 664 filename
4. redigest the queue's
enq -d
5. run the chvirprt command on each queue
chvirprt -q <queue name> -d <device name>
Note: If you have a lot of queues, the best thing is to create a
short script to do this for you.
I grab the queue name and device name by running lsallq -c
and saving it to a file.
6. cycle the printer subsystem
stopsrc -cg spooler
startsrc -g spooler
I'll do some more digging and maybe start over as this is a test server.

Hi, Mark.
That is perfectly normal. It just has files in two different places,
/etc/objrepos and /usr/lib/objrepos. lslpp -l \*printers\* would show
you the same thing without the context being grepped out.
labdvw1[/]# lslpp -l \*printers\*

I'm not sure about the duplicate entries for "Description and Name of
Print Queue to add". Maybe a screenshot?
Thanks,

When I try and add another print queue via smitty I noticed it was
showing duplicate entries for stuff like 'Description and Name of Print
Queue to add'.
If I check my printers filesets I see I have a couple of duplicates.
So my question is how do I go about fixing this up. Uninstall to clean
things up and then re-install?
