Re: Adding memory and paging.

Larry,

I would wait and see what your paging utilization rate looks like after the
memory upgrade before changing anything.

One good reason for adding an additional paging space would be to spread
paging i/o across more disks to reduce i/o in your rootvg.

Subject: Adding memory and paging.

Admins,

I have a P630 running AIX 5.1 with 8g or ram. This server runs Apps and
Oracle DB. Currently OS/Apps has 7g and Oracle has 1g. I am going to
upgrade this evening the memory to 16g total on the box. I am going to keep
the OS/Apps at 7g and have the Oracle DBA take 9g for Oracle. Below is a
snapshot of my lsps on the box. Would anyone have suggestions on the paging
once I add the memory? I am not sure since Oracle is going to be taking the
additional memory if I should change the paging or should I be fine with it
at the current stats. Thank you for your time.

Page Space Physical Volume Volume Group Size %Used Active Auto
Type

paging00 hdisk1 rootvg 4096MB 28 yes yes
lv

hd6 hdisk0 rootvg 4096MB 29 yes yes
lv

Thanks

Larry
