I'm actually trying to go in the other direction. I have an AIX application
that needs to access files on the Win2003 server.

I assume you are trying to mount a directory from AIX on windows. If this
is the case you must export the file from AIX to the server you wish to
mount it on.
First: place the hostname and IP address of the windows
server in the /etc/hosts file
Second: (Using smitty is easiest) smitty _nfs (with the
underscore)
Third: Add Directory to Exports List
Fourth: Enter the directory you want to mount on Windows, put
your hostname in HOSTS & NETGROUPS allowed client access and change the MODE
to export directory to desired option
Fifth: I haven't exported to windows much but you should now
be able to use the Windows for Unix to mount the directory on you server.
Of course if you haven't ever used NFS on you AIX box you will also have to
start NFS (again using smitty) smitty nfsconfigure and choose Start NFS
(depending on how much of this you do you may need to tune nfsd, biod and
lockd Daemons as well)
