I'm sorry, but I'm trying to go in the other direction. I need the AIX box
to be able to access a shared directory on the Windows server.

Hello Russ
then you wouln't need SFU from a technical point of view
On the AIX you need to install / configure samba, e.g. from the AIX freeware
disc
if you not already have done this
in a file smb.conf you can configure any directory on the Aix box
as windows share ...
With the smb command scmbclient _l localhost on the Aix Server you can test
laeter on which shares it offers to serve
From windows it is just mounting anormal network drive from e.g.
//aix/myshare as an user that can be authenticated by the samba on the aix
box
AFAIK the SFU Side plays no role in this comminication
Exception: SFU can also provide Unix User Auth via NIS
But i cite this only tonot mislead you by the former explanation
In case the AIX uses NIS from SFU SFU plays a role in the game :-
