"Who" command issues

Admins,

I have two questions regarding the "who" command:

1: AIX 5.2 boxes. For some reason, when doing a "who" or just a "w" it
will show connections from hours or even a couple days old that have
been logged out. I read something about this being caused by a corrupt
wtmp file? Does anyone have any suggestions?

2: Also, the hostname will show up with very sporadic or wrong entries
from telnet connections. This makes it hard for me to track issues
(security). I know this leads to more of a DNS issue but does anyone
have any experience with these problems.

Thx
