Re: AW: RPM for AIX

Maybe some sort of LIBPATH conflict?

The rpm package itself is an LPP no?

Try uninstalling it and re-installing it. You could also try installing a
different version to see if that helps.

I would have expected that rpm.rte is sufficient to work with RPM-packages.
Seems a little strange, all the files you seem to need to use rpm are part
of rpm packages themselfes....:

root@edge:/home/root # ls -l /lib/librpm.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 32 Feb 28 2007 /lib/librpm.so ->
../../opt/freeware/lib/librpm.so
root@edge:/home/root # lslpp -w /opt/freeware/lib/librpm.so
root@edge:/home/root #
root@edge:/home/root # rpm -qf /opt/freeware/lib/librpm.so
rpm-3.0.5-37
root@edge:/home/root # ls -l /lib/libbz2.a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 31 Feb 28 2007 /lib/libbz2.a ->
../../opt/freeware/lib/libbz2.a
root@edge:/home/root # rpm -qf /opt/freeware/lib/libbz2.a
bzip2-1.0.2-3
root@edge:/home/root #

Hope this helps,

regards,
Christian

Betreff: RPM for AIX

I've downloaded and installed the rpm.rte from IBMs website (
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeSoftware/aixtoolbox/INSTALLP/ppc/rpm.rte
)

But whenever I call rpm, I get the following error:

Could not load program /opt/freeware/bin/rpm:
Could not load module /lib/librpm.so.
Dependent module /lib/libbz2.a(libbz2.so.1) could not be
loaded.
Member libbz2.so.1 is not found in archive

Any hints, what is missing?

Yours
