Re: SNA problems

The SNA kernel "piece(s)" is not loaded.

You need to make sure sna:2:wait:/etc/rc.sna is being loaded from
inittab. If not you can run it after reboot.

Subject: SNA problems

I have a problem trying to configure SNA on a machine. The background
to the problem is that we have 2 machines that process part of our
printing. They are both F50's that share SSA disk. They don't have
HACMP but are designed so that one can be used as a DR box for the other
by way of manual failover. There were network issues on the site and
communication was lost with one of the nodes so the people on site
failed over to the other one. By the time the problem was reported, it
was reported as a hardware issue. The card was replaced and in the
ensuing up-ing and down-ing of the server other hardware issues occurred
and we lost hdisk0. This was replaced but we had lost the OS. There
were no mksysb tapes. The box had to be cloned from the other one.
Unfortunately this has meant that the original SNA configuration for
this node has been lost. After cloning the OS SNA no longer starts. I
get this message:

SNA software is initializing...

SNA software failed to initialize, reason:

Failed to start Trace Daemon

- Trace Daemon failed to access the trace driver - /dev/sna_trace

Operating System error:

- No such file or directory

Error : Failed to access the node. Check that CS/AIX software is
running

query_node_limits command failed :

primary_rc = COMM_SUBSYSTEM_NOT_LOADED, secondary_rc = 00000002
(UNKNOWN)

Error : Failed to access the node. Check that CS/AIX software is
running

init_node command failed :

primary_rc = COMM_SUBSYSTEM_NOT_LOADED, secondary_rc = 00000002
(UNKNOWN)

I have tried googling the error but it hasn't helped much. I know
nothing about SNA, can anyone point me in the right direction for
reading material or ideas about what to look for first. I'm due to go
back again later in the week and I could really do with some pointers.

Many thanks

Regards,

Suzanne Davies
