ASCII gui? As has been said, topas comes with the system but is much
better at 5.3 and 6.1 than at 5.2. Nmon is essentially a 3rd party
addition written by one the the best performance IBM'ers (ASCII mode
realtime, excel spread*** mode graphical)
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/au-nmon_analyser/. For a
gooey gui you could still use the AIX performance toolkit ($$$)
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/p/os/aix/ptx/perftoolbox.html. A lot of
people are looking at ganglia as well (free)
http://ganglia.sourceforge.net/. There's a replacement for the toolkit
called ITM6 (free, $$$) but it's not great without buying it
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2366&uid=swg21253835. I
don't know a lot about lparmon but IBM'ers use it in a lot of customer
presentations http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/lparmon.
Hope that helps,
John T. Mills
