Just a quick answer:
1. Have switch set up for etherchannel (also known as IEEE 802.3ad Link
Aggregation)
2. smitty etherchannel
This will allow you to combine en0 and en1 into a single interface with
failover characteristics (usually en2).
Somebody else can probably pour on a lot more detail.

Hello AIXers,
I am trying to get a quick information on whether any has ever configured a
sort of MPIO on a network level on AIX 5.3 without the use of HACMP.
Let me explain on how this should work. A server would have 2-ethernet
cards, the first one is the primary with an IP address ( let's say
192.168.0.5). The second card would be on standby. When the switch (or the
NIC card itself) goes down, then AIX would automatically bring-up the
second card using the IP address of the primary card (192.168.0.5) and when
the switch on the primary ethernet card is fixed, I would decide whether to
switch back or not. Or do I have to write scripts to implement this
solution?
