Yup -- Etherchannel is the way to go. We do not deploy servers without it.
However, the network switches need to have the ports "trunked" or it will not
work as designed. Additionally, spanning across switches with the "primary"
adapter is rarely supported due to latency issues, last I knew.

Sorry guys, I think I got my answer by using an etherchannel. Sorryabout
that.

I am trying to get a quick information on whether any has everconfigured a sort
of MPIO on a network level on AIX 5.3 without the useof HACMP.
Let me explain on how this should work. A server would have 2-ethernetcards,
the first one is the primary with an IP address ( let's say192.168.0.5). The
second card would be on standby. When the switch (orthe NIC card itself) goes
down, then AIX would automatically bring-upthe second card using the IP address
of the primary card (192.168.0.5)and when the switch on the primary ethernet
card is fixed, I woulddecide whether to switch back or not. Or do I have to
write scripts toimplement this solution?
