Tim,
you should probably co-ordinate the implementation of things like
file flags and other stuff with Joerg Schilling so that we don't get
non-interoperable tars. The same holds for multi-volume archives
which seems to be a real challenge to get right. He has talked to me
several hours explaining the problems and possible solutions. It make also
make sense to co-ordinate rmt stuff with him (Sun's going to use his rmt
as far as I know).
