versions of FreeBSD.
It is only required for 3D acceleration. For regular desktop use,
the open source driver included in X is sufficient.
Not familar with Core 2 Dou, but the AMD dual core 64bit procs can
easily be run a SMP kernel in 32bit more. I am currently doing that
on my machine here because I like the 3D accel.
