Posted to -questions but got no replies, I hope you don't mind I ask here?
Have tried to install several incarantions of FreeBSD-5 on the following
machine:
Compaq ProLiant 1850R Dual PII-450 512MB RAM
SMART 3200 SCSI (boot) + built in SCSI-3 controller
Storage System U2
4.7, 4.8 installs OK
5.x install fails regardless of the method, upgrade, 5.0CD, 5.1-BETACD,
floppy boot
excerpt by hand from initial boot:
<snip>
vga0: <Generic ISA VGA> at port 0x3d0-0x3db iomem 0xb8000-0xbffff on isa0
Timecounter ticks every 10.000msec
Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
fault virtual adress = 0x5c
fault code = supervisor read, page not present
instruction pointer = 0x8:0xc022413a
stack pointer = 0x10:0xd69a9c08
|
etc
Did anyone succed with 5.x on a similar system?
What more information can I provide to help solve it?
Thanks,
Per olof
