DEVICE_POLLING is not compatible with SMP? (was: xl(4) & polling)

I found xl polling was committed to RELENG_5.
Very good indeed!
So I have also tried to enable polling on another PC
with xl LAN and SMP, but the kernel compilation stops
with:
#error DEVICE_POLLING is not compatible with SMP
Is this error message still relevant?
