hi,
this is 6.0-BETA3 on an smp box,
with ^t I get:
load: 1.09 cmd: dpkg 63786 [lockd] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 1124k
load: 0.01 cmd: dpkg 63786 [lockd] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 1124k
load: 0.00 cmd: dpkg 63786 [lockd] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 1124k
(it's now more than 1 hour :-)
and it's not killable.
% ps lwp 63786
UID PID PPID CPU PRI NI VSZ RSS MWCHAN STAT TT TIME COMMAND
0 63786 63785 0 96 0 2376 1132 lockd D+ d0 0:00.01
/usr/local/bin/dpkg --root=/compat/linux --admindir=/compat/linux/var/lib/dpkg
