I'm testing the scanning features of Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BGiwi-firmware-2.4_7 (I
build-in Toshiba Tecra M3 using FreeBSD 6.1 and
think that it is the last version, isn't it?). I have noticed aprovide the
unstable behavior of the wireless interface when I try to scan the
access point around it (ifconfig iwi0 scan). Sometimes it
report of the detected access points but sometimes it keepwaiting a
long time without provide any report. Do you have the same behaviorfind a solution for that?
with iwi driver and iwi-firmware?, do you know how I can
PRO/Wireless 2200BG
I have also noticed that the web pages for Intel
for FreeBSD (http://damien.bergamini.free.fr/ipw/iwi-freebsd.html)
have a watermark that say "discontinued", does mean that there are
another web or project that will continue to improve the iwi driver
and iwi-firmware? Do you know any information about that?
Please use iwi(4) from RELENG_6 (soon to be 6.2), which has
many improvements and bug fixes over the version that was
shipped with 6.1.
Actually, I'm using FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE, does your suggestion means that I
need to make an upgrading of the base system? Sorry for my newbie question.
Does "iwi(4)" means? When I do "man iwi" I see "iwi(4)" on the upper side,
is that right?. I also noticed that I have the
/usr/port/net/iwi-firmware-kmod, is it needed to upgrade the base system?
Note that it uses the firmware(9) subsystem to load the
firmware image, so you will have to change to
net/iwi-firmware-kmod from ports - as described in UPDATING.
The latest firmware version - IIRC is 3.0.
How can I get the firmware version 3.0?
