Linux version of libusb that works with FreeBSD

There was a thread on this subject a couple of months ago: a working libusb
in /compat/linux. Has anybody tried to make this work?

There is a linux binary application I want to run and a photo film scanner
that it uses via libusb directly (not sane backend)...
