    Greetings, list.

I am wondering if it is possible to build my own NAS using passive
backplane pci boards, and freebsd, instead of purchasing a vender
appliance. I have asked on efnet, and pretty-much they just laughed at
me, and began with the juvenile remarks. Is it truely that out
rageous? I am aware of Cisco producing such equipement, however, I
could have sworn that they are just running a variation of BSD
themselves. Any input would be much appreciated.
