    I am using FreeBSD4.8-RELEASE with a D-Link DFE-580 4-port FastEthernet NIC
(ste driver). I seem to have problems with packet losses despite the system
is far from being fully loaded. I have found the following comment in the
CVS repository of if_ste.c (Revision 1.33):

"This card still has seemingly unfixable issues under heavy RX load in
which the card takes over the PCI bus."

Are there any news about this? If there are indeed unfixable issues, can
anyone recommend an alternative 4-port card that is currently available?

    Many thanks,
    Martin
