Re: ftpd vs. lukemftpd (forcing FTP-uploaded ...)

Whichever version you are calling, is the version you are using. If you're starting it via inetd, it's probably using plain "ftpd" - so just figure out which daemon that one is. I personally do not know what actual ftp server "ftpd" is, never used it and never checked, I don't allow FTP traffic for security reasons.

As to a website with comparisons on ftp servers, I've looked in the past, and never found anything I liked (and realized what a junk protocol FTP is to begin with..) SFTP or some kind of ssh-based file transfer is more workable, I personally use the built-in SSH daemon to handle file transfer for users.

Hopefully somebody else will chime in who knows more about the FTPD internals of FBSD and also has a nice comparison for you. Good luck once again.

David

The stock ftp server?

BTW, what is the stock ftp server on 6-stable? I see two -- ftpd
and lukemftpd
and both are installed...

Is there a web-page with comparision somewhere, perhaps? Thanks!
