    Yes I recommend partition magic as well. I recently used it to partition my
    drive so I could dual-boot between WinXP and FreeBSD. After partitioning, I
    installed FreeBSD for the first time with no problem . (using the FreeBSD
    handbook of course!)

    I recommend using partition magic to shrink your windows partition down to
    fit in FreeBSD, or buy another drive, then you can install FreeBSD and
    won't have to do any changing of your windows partition.
