    Hiya Sally

Sounds like a good idea, I have had the same problem seems some get off on
flexing their superior knowledge, another problem I found with -questions is
that the high volume of mail included a great deal of viruses, as I am the
only one in the company to use BSD (so far) the virus thing was a big
problem for me, I still get them and have had to enforce the mail checks in
postfix to a cruel level just to keep them out.
I'd love to see a quick start guide as well, 900 pages of manual can be a
bit daunting, however, once you dive in, it doesn't seem so bad, it's just a
bit scary at the start is all.

I find the -questions email list to be way too busy and technical to be of
    any
use to me. Where do I find a "new user" oriented technical help list? I am
now on the -questions list for the third time, the volume of mail is
incredible, and following threads is entirely beyond me there, as most
    subject
lines are meaningless to me, I have such a low understanding of the
    technical
stuff. And the man pages and other documentation assumes knowledge not in
evidence to me. In other words, can't make heads or tails of them, either.

    Hey There Jeff

Your theory is correct, however, best post this on -questions, you will get
more experience over there. Remeber to take backups :) Have you tried man
    growfs yet ?

    Welcome to the community :)

Okay, I've got FreeBSD 4.8-Stable running, and I've run out of room on /

I've looked around, and I think (in theory) that I can use growfs to
    increase
the size of / since the contiguous slice is /tmp, from which I can sacrifice
    some space.

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
    /dev/ad0s1a 128990 127684 -9012 108% /
    /dev/ad0s1f 257998 1254 236106 1% /tmp
    /dev/ad0s1g 18359694 5072672 11818248 30% /usr
    /dev/ad0s1e 257998 8384 228976 4% /var
    procfs 4 4 0 100% /proc

Problem is, I'm not quite sure how to do it, and scared of messing up my
system in the process. Has anyone attempted something similar?

    TIA
    Jeff LaMarche
