    FreeBSD 4.9

How can I fix the Alt key?
I have to use Esc all the time... :(
I'm used to switching windows in IRC clients with Alt+digit.

    emacs....... :(

    And what about xterm?
    That's my ~/.Xresources file:

    XTerm*eightBitInput: false
    XTerm*metaSendsEscape: true
    rxvt*modifier: alt

It fixed rxvt, but xterm has the same problem as terminals

(forgive me, but i'm not very good in English as you can see:)
