Hi Albert,

Thanks for your interest in FreeBSD ;-)

The FreeBSD 4.x series is probably more suitable since the 5.x
series is still in development. I'm still using the 4.x series
although there are many people already using the 5.x series.

You might want to review:

  http://www.freebsd.org/releases/5.2.1R/early-adopter.html

before making your final decision.

Also note that 4.7-R is a bit old and that the latest release is
4.10-R. I'd recommend downloading the latest version since there
have been some improvements and security enhancements since 4.7.
If you want to go the 4.x route, then take a look at:

  http://www.freebsd.org/releases/4.10R/announce.html

to get you going.

If you have any problems or questions, the place to ask is on
freebsd-questions@freebsd.org since our charter here limits us
to non-technical discussions.

Best regards,

Randy
