I have 5.3 running on a P4 box with Xorg and Gnome. I currently have an
older CDROM that can play DVD's. I'm looking to upgrade this to a new
    DVD/CD burner/player.

I'm looking for an inexpensive and widely available unit that
    willinstall/setup painlessly on freebsd 5.3. Any recommendations ? I
have a source for lite-on drives - Has anyone tried these drives ?

I'd also like to use k3b as this is what I've been using on Linux. I
recall having problems with an earlier version of freebsd/kde that
required me to use the SCSI emulation layer to use an IDE driver. Is
    this still the case ?

    Thanks in advance,

    -K
