I am trying to get a HP deskjet cp 1160 connected to a
jetdirect working with FreeBSD 5.3 stable using cups
and hpijs. I am not able to get a full list of
foomatic drivers when setting up the printer in cups.
I only see the PPD file I downloaded and it doesn't
work. I am able to print using a genericdeskjet
driver. However it is slow and low quality. I am
unable to see the printer in applications such as Open
Office.
I installed the following ports:
cups, cups, cups-lpr, cups-pstoraster, gimp-print,
hpijs, ghostscript-gnu, foomatic-db, and perl5. I have
made sym links to the cups lpr, lprm, and lpq and
renamed those from bsd. I have put foomatic-rip and
fomatic-gswrapper in usr/local/bin with chmod755. The
scripts point to perl5. Basically I follwed the
proceedure at
