    problem1 now I get this instead:
    su-2.05b# portupgrade snort
    [Updating the pkgdb <format:bdb1_btree> in /var/db/pkg ... - 121
    packages found (-5 +13) (...).ruby18 in free(): error: page is already free
    Abort trap (core dumped)

    and problem 2:
    It doest matter if I have "foo" or just foo... same thing happens
    su-2.05b# make search name=snort
    Generating INDEX-5 - please wait..

    Ok try:
    #portupgrade snort
    You don't need the version numbers if portupgrade finds a newer version it
    will install it for you. Afer a cvsup I usually do a
    #portupgrade -arR
    That upgrades all the installed ports with newer versions if they are
    found.

    Loose the quote marks...#make search name=foo
