sounds plausible, but then again,
I DID try :
- hw.ata.atapi_dma to "0" or "1" in /boot/loader.conf
- hw.ata.ata_dma to "0" or "1" in /boot/loader.conf
the HDD (a 2 year old 40 GB maxtor) works fine in pio mode..
It would be great if the ATA driver author could find some time/energy
to look into this..
