A 100BaseT network running full-duplex can theoretically pass about 12.5
Mbyte/sec. Allowing for real world, if your 2 Win2k boxes are
running 100BaseT to the hub, a 100Megabyte transfer between them
should take roughly about 15 seconds.

If the network is a 10BaseT network then figure 150 seconds, or
a bit less than 2 minutes.

If your getting 25 minutes then something is stuffed.

If you unplug the FreeBSD system while both W2K systems are
transferring data, does the transfer time go up
or does it stay the same?

If it stays the same then it's definitely a Windows problem and
you shouldn't be asking about it here. There are many Windows
    forums.
