access via usb serial adapter

Hi!
Did anyone have success in accessing Sun Ultra workstation (mine is
ultra60 ) via usb serial adapter (Prolific,etc)
I get to the point of seeing device drivers loading, connecting with
9600 bits, 8 bit data, 1 stop bit, parity none, but no success of
message exchange.
