BGE driver upgrade from 5.3-RELEASE

I have a running 5.3-RELEASE system that needs a BGE driver upgrade so that packets with VLAN tags aren't stripped. Is there any way to do this without upgrading the entire OS? This feature was just added to the driver a month ago.
