If it still doesn't work put a verbose boot dmesg of snd_hda and pcm#sysctl hw.snd.default_unit=0
somewhere (see the man page of snd_hda) and ask on the
freebsd-multimedia@ mailing list.
Works - thanks. Now - to make this change stick I add it to
/boot/loader.conf ?
