Is 28 Sep the date of your 4.9-PRERELEASE? There was an important
memory corruption bug in ipfw2 fixed before the 4.9 RELEASE (on
17/10/2003). The bug was triggered by dynamic rules, so if you're
using dynamic rules then it is definitely worth trying to upgrade
    to 4.9-RELEASE.
