    Hi,
        I always get the error message:"Operation not permitted" When I use sem_init set pshared argument equal 1. Compiling as : "gcc -o sem_test sem_test.c -lc_r". My freebsd ver is release 5.4 p6.
        Test code appear below:
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <sys/stat.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <errno.h>
#include <pthread.h>
#include <semaphore.h>

int main(int argc, char ** argv)
{
sem_t mutex;
if (-1 == sem_init (&mutex, 1, 1)) {
printf("sem init error:%s\n", strerror(errno));
exit(0);
}
sem_wait (&mutex);
printf("sem wait ok:\n");
sem_post (&mutex);
sem_destroy (&mutex);
return 0;
}

    Best regards,
    Gary Li
