Many thanks to all who replied.
The answer was use make_net_recovery. I did and it worked perfectly.

    regards,

    Julian

Subject: [HPADM] Ignite boot and install images

    Hi,
I have a number of HPUX servers that I administer remotely. I would like
to use make_recovery on them however I cannot guarantee there will be a
    tape available.

Is there a method to create a bootable image of the running system on
disk, transfer that image to on an ignite server and then re-install by
    doing a network install?

I suspect, if it is possible, it will use make_sys_image, make_medialif
maybe instl_combine however I would be grateful if someone has already
gone through the pain they could pass on the method they came up with.

    thanks,

    Julian
