Make sure you have PHCO_26960 installed
and set the following environment varialble PTHREAD_DISABLE_HANDOFF=ON
(as described in the patch text)
Make sure it is in /etc/profile as Java scripts work with posix shells

This patch has a significant - positive - impact on threaded applications performance

    Hi List,

Thanks to all who answered this post. Looks like the issue was not related to
the Operating System at all. It was a Java Runtime Environment problem.
Downloading the new RTE and installing it fixed our issue.

    Thanks again,
    Mark Gosselin

Subject: [HPADM] Problems on multi-processor machine

    Hi List,

Here's my problem: I have an application (which is multi threaded), that works perfectly on a single-processor
box, but when installed on a multi-processor box, it runs horribly, eating up all kinds of resources (particularly
CPU)... The system's running 11.0...as is the single processor box.

My question: I've always assumed that the OS handled the utilization of processors.. Does anyone know of a
patch or something that might help me with this???

    Thanks

    Mark Gosselin
