    Yes...
      1. The lun numbers have been used before and the system hasn't cleaned it
    out.
a reboot will fix this. Then run ioscan -fnC disk. If this doesn't
    work.
         do #2 then #1.
      2. do an rmsf -a /dev/dsk/c#t#d# for both path links
         do another ioscna -fnC disk
      3. If this shows up from a bcv re-run syncfg discover

    Are you using powerpath?
If so run powermt display dev=all. This will show the status of the fibre
    paths.

Hp doesn't release lin / hw numbers when a disk has been put back into the
free pool on the symm. Most the time a reboot will clean this out, but most
    of us can't always reboot.

Subject: [HPADM] ct_query failed - EMC disks with NO_HW

    HPUX Gurus,
I am running into a strange problem which I don't have
a clue. We are migrating a HPUX 11.0 server from one EMC frame to another
and the host has four HBA's. One Symm is directly connected to the
host(LOOP) and another is in fabric. This was runniging fine until Friday
when I added a device from the new Symm to the host. Now I can't see any
devices from the symm which is in fabric (also I can't see the VCMDBDEVICE,
vcmfind fails). This is what I see in the syslog.log

    Aug 4 09:24:59 KYARPP02 vmunix: ct_query failed. hw_path = 0/4/0/0
    Aug 4 09:25:18 KYARPP02 vmunix: ct_query failed. hw_path = 1/10/0/0

These two HBA's belongs to the new Symm. Interesting thing is the devices
from the symm (in fabric) show as NO_HW. But this hasn't affected my
filesystems which are on the same EMC devices which are in NO_HW status.

    Anyone seen this problem ?

    Any fixes are greatly appreciated.

    TIA

    -Shyam Hazari
