    Thank you to

    I see now the correct LVs again.
    File /etc/fstab was correct, /etc/mnttab was wrong.
    I solved the problem with

      $ mv /etc/mnttab /etc/mnttab.prev
      $ mount -a

    This probably arrived after booting in maintenance
    mode, and then shifting to an higher run level
    without rebooting.
    Boot definitions for vg00 are correct:

      $ lvlnboot -v vg00
      Boot Definitions for Volume Group /dev/vg00:
      Physical Volumes belonging in Root Volume Group:
              /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 (0/0/1/1.2.0) -- Boot Disk
      Boot: lvol1 on: /dev/dsk/c1t2d0
      Root: lvol3 on: /dev/dsk/c1t2d0
      Swap: lvol2 on: /dev/dsk/c1t2d0
      Dump: lvol2 on: /dev/dsk/c1t2d0, 0

    Best regards,
    Stefano

    Object: [HPADM] Why /dev/root instead of /dev/vg00/lvol3 ?

    Once upon a time,
    the bdf command gave me an output like this

    Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
    /dev/vg00/lvol3 143360 31201 105181 23% /
    /dev/vg00/lvol1 83733 28748 46611 38% /stand
    ...

    Now I see /dev/root for the lv mounted on / :

    Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
    /dev/root 143360 31201 105181 23% /
    /dev/vg00/lvol1 83733 28748 46611 38% /stand
    ...

    Why? I don't like it at all.
    This appears on both our hp-ux 11.00 servers.
    Does this means I have now different data
    mounted on / ?
    Where comes this /dev/root and /dev/rroot files
    from, and why and how to see the correct lvs again?

    Thank you and best regards,
    Stefano
