    Hello all guru's,

I have to increase /opt on my system here and would like to know the
best way to do this. I currently do not have enough PE's available and
I am wondering if I add a new device to my system from an external
device (EMC / Hitachi / SAN attached storage) if I can do a vgextend of
the vg00 volume group then bring down the system to it knees (IPL) and
    increase the logical volume.

1.) Do I have to bring the system to do the vgextend?
2.) Can I do a lvextend on the volume group with an external device,
since it is at an IPL state.

    Thanks
