To recap my problem, I was having print spooler problems where it delayed
for about 30 seconds between print jobs.

Kudos to all the folks who suggested looking at my DNS. My named daemon had
indeed gone tits up and so I had to restart it. Been having that happen at
odd times. Anyone have any guesses at why named just dies all of a sudden?
Anyways, thanks to everyone for the help.

    Subject: [HPADM] print spooler question

    Hello All,
Recently, I've noticed a delay in our print spooler sending jobs to the
actual printers that the jobs are destined for. Up until a couple of days
ago, a user could print a job from within our CRM application, and the job
would get queued, and as long as it wasn't a queue full of jobs, it would
print pretty much instantly to their printer. Now what is happening is that
even if the queue is empty, it will wait for 30-60 seconds before it sends
the job to the printer. It does this for every job that it is sending to the
printer. So if a user prints say three transcripts for a student, then it
takes 30-60 seconds per printout to get sent to the printer making them have
to wait several minutes for their print-outs. As you can see, this can be
very time consuming especially as registration for the next semester is
underway. Anyone know what I could look at to find out why it is doing this?
I've checked the daemons, the queues, the network. All seem to be working
fine. At this point I'm just stumped. Thanks!
