    Hi,

I followed the suggestion from Mike (see below) and it worked fine.
There was also a problem caused by an expired licence key too, so I could
not give the examined solution earlier.

Thanks a lot for similar reply also to:

    Rick Starr
    Corné Beerse
RobertDill : We do something like this for jobs submitted through a
    scheduling package:
             #! /usr/bin/sh
             # the next line starts with . ("dot") to keep the environment in
       the
             same process as this script
             . /myhomedir/.myprofile
             etc
             etc
             etc

    Thanks you very much !

    Hi,

If the cell mgr is windows2003 and you are setting up a backup for hpux,
then the pre/post exec fields will also have a field defining which
    server will run the script.

You should put the script in /opt/omni/lbin on the hpux client, then
just put the script name in the pre/post fields in your backup spec.

The script should include the following as well.......

    Export PATH=$PATH:/blah blah:
    Export TERM=<whatever>

Make sure the scripts have a zero exit code too.

    I hope this helps.

From a DP side, also make sure all latest patches are installed on the
both the cell mgr and hpux installation server.
    See http://support.openview.hp.com/cpe/patches/dp/dp.jsp

    Regards,
    Mike

Subject: [HPADM] Data Protector 5.1 on Windows with pre.- and postexec
    scripts for Unix

    Hallo,

We are trying to install "Data Protector 5.1" on a WIN2003 Server that
should operate Windows and Unix 11.0 Clients. Everything works so far,
but we didn't manage to run the necessary pre.- and postexec scripts for
the HP-UX11.0 clients. The problem is the missing user environment such
as PHATH and THERM variables. Does someone know how to feed the Unix
with the necessary variable from the Windows side.
    Thanks for every reply !
